Four years ago I began my journey to revitalize and strengthen Willowbrook. Listening to the voices of our residents and business leaders, we chartered a course that has, and continues to produce needed enhancements to our parks, streets and neighborhoods. We have benefited from revitalized shopping areas and are currently in the midst of significant business resurgence at the corner of Plainfield Road and Kingery Highway. When completed it will provide new shopping, dining and service experiences for not only our residents but for others in our surrounding area.
While we continue to move forward with our plans for growth and renewal in our Village, we will not lose sight of our responsibility to maintain and grow our financial stability. In February of 2014, for the first time our Village history, we received AAA bond rating from Standard & Poor’s Financial Services. Due to our fiscal diligence that rating has been maintained in 2015 and 2016, we now share the highest bond rating awarded to only about 4% of Illinois communities. This is an extremely rare achievement for a non home-rule community that does not levy a conventional property tax.
Our goals to support a quality array of city services and social opportunities for our residents continue. In the last 4 years we have enhanced our park programs, upgraded our Village street lights to LED lighting, replaced deficient sidewalks, replaced all resident’s water meter transmitters, entered into a program to blast and repaint 3 of our Village water towers, completed multiple road maintenance projects, sustained our highly rated municipal services, and continued with enhancements for our police department that will continue their commitment to protect and serve our citizens.
In 2013 my promise to the residents of Willowbrook was: ‘Your Voice, Our Vision’. Today that promise continues. We will move forward, embrace the necessary challenges and changes that the future always brings. With your support we will take the necessary bold, decisive leadership decisions while we protect, grow and preserve our community.
Thank you for the honor to serve you.
